Friends this what I call is the magic of trekking which I feel everyone must experience if not regularly then at least once. Trust me you will be addicted to it for life.I'm too much excited to share first trek experience of my life.

After the end of the college we all were busy in our life ,we didn't meet each other since long, so we had arranged reunion. we have decided to go for trek and spend some time together."fir se college ki yaadein taza karte hain" .One of my friend came across a well known trekking group which has treking event on that dates. so we have booked our name for kalavantin trek organized by "GADVEDE TREKKERS" .

We reached pune to  panvel by local train at 10:30PM.I had seen how the people could travel in local and i seriously want to salute them because it was  too tough for us to travel in these much of crowd. We had some Vadapav and kachori at station and So we were all packed into the tempo and dispatched to Thakurwadi, our base village for this trek.it took us around 40 minutes to reach the Base village Thakurwadi.I was so excited about my trek as it was my first trek. I haven’t imagine that it was a night trek.

Journey begins...
So the trek was on ..... slowly and surely the group started to  walk leaving the tar road we took a right and into the trail . Weaving our way through complete darkness armed with torch lights we were climbing...The climate was pleasant with occasional soft breeze hugging us and the demure moon following us throughout the trek. The climb was quite easy in the first hour of the trek. Then after  i was tired and couldn’t take steps further . Thanks to my friends, with the help of them i was finally energised.
The road be singing the song with us, ‘Yunhii kat jaaegaa safar saath chalne se, ki manzill aayegi nazar saath chalne se’ as we trudged along the paths of the foothills of Kalavantin Durg. With the occasional break and rock patches and steep climbs the uphill started taking us higher and higher with magnificent views of the lit up Mumbai – Pune Express way, Matheran & Panvel. The city seems to be beautiful when you are away from it.

We completed almost one and a half hour trek when we all reached a plateau. This plateau is called prabal machi. At this point one has a option to go to Kalavantin or Prabal gad Fort. The time was 2:30PM and we all were too hungry. We had this delicious food prepared by local people.

The view was pleasant. No words could describe its beauty. After that rohit taught us how to set up tents and we all comfortabely stayed inside tents.

What a scene it was!No words could describe how it triggers happy photographers within us as we got the picture perfect moment. We had some “Poha” in breakfast. It was good. After getting fresh we  started trek to Kalavantin durg at 8’o clock.

Beauty Of Kalavantin

The last leg of the trek(The most difficult one) was still pending. The peak was nothing but the giant rocks placed together ,with no path to climb. Each one of us climbed up the rock with little help from others who were already  up the peak.It took around one hour to reach  the top.

And finally the moment  arrived for  which I was eagerly waiting .Yes i did it. Words are not enough to describe the feeling of elation on reaching the peak. The Orange Flag..That Surrounding mountains...Peace...wind..Just Awesome.

As always time flies when you are at the top.We didn’t know that we had spent one hour on the top and then it was  time to climb down. Around 11 we reached Prabal Machi.we took our meal over there. After taking some rest rohit told us now it was  time to climb down. Climbing down was very easy.We reached to Thakurwadi around 4:00pm. Then we went towards panvel station to catch the train for pune.

It was the most beautiful and memorable experience of my life.It is all about being one with nature, about discovering yourself, about feeling the wind, positive vibes , about making new friends and many more.So what are you waiting for..?
